The main emphasis of this program is to select faculty in biomedical research and provide the funding needed to help this faculty member become a self sufficient scholar.  The program will provide funding to the selected faculty member for an academic year.

Program Overview

• This is a highly selective process to award a sizable grant to help faculty get to a point of being competitive with major research grants
• Start a Faculty Training Program to develop technical skills in the laboratory and pass those skills onto members of the scientific community
• Create an idea and technical exchange conference to help develop the skill of the Target faculty
• Help fund a granting module to help other faculty doing biomedical research
• Student mentoring is very important
• Faculty will be able to re-compete for a renewal of their INBRE funding for a maximum total of 3 years of support, or until they achieve their own independent funding
